Your data
Privacy & cookies
Short, plain and yours to ask about.
What we keep when you send a rental request, a repair booking or a question, why we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.

Who we are
Motion Wheel, Unit 1, Room 7, Ossory Industrial Estate, Ossory Road, Dublin 3, D03 R122, Ireland. Email info@motionwheel.ie, phone 089 956 8102. We are the controller of the personal data described here, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.
What we collect
- When you send a request — your name, email and phone, what you asked for (a vehicle and dates, a repair and a drop-off day, a question about a product, or an accessory you reserved) and anything you wrote in the message box.
- When you reserve an accessory for delivery — the delivery address you give us, used only to agree the delivery cost with you and post the order.
- When you rent or book a repair in store — the same contact details, plus the rental or job record. We see your photo ID at collection but do not keep a copy.
- If you allow analytics cookies — how the website is used: pages viewed, the device and browser type, roughly where in the world the visit comes from. See Cookies.
- Nothing is paid online, so the website never sees a card number.
Why, and on what basis
- To answer your request and carry out the rental or repair — necessary to take steps at your request before a contract, and to perform it (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To keep business and tax records — a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
- To send news about stock and offers — only if you ticked the box (consent, Article 6(1)(a)). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand how the website is used — only if you accept analytics cookies (consent).
- To keep the website and the shop's systems secure — our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)), for example limiting how many requests one connection can send.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers (processors), each bound by a data processing agreement:
- Website and database hosting — Hostinger International Ltd (Cyprus) hosts the website, the request forms and the database with our booking records.
- Email delivery — the confirmation you receive and the notification we receive are sent through our hosting provider's mail service (Hostinger).
- Delivery — if you choose delivery, your name, address and phone go to the postal or courier service that carries the parcel (for example An Post).
- Analytics, only with your consent — Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited. Google may process this data in the United States under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Our calendar — confirmed bookings may be added to the shop's Google Calendar (Google Ireland Limited) so the counter knows who is coming.
We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Requests and reservations that did not become a rental or repair, and the emails about them: 12 months, then deleted automatically (a sale is recorded in our accounts like any sale in the shop). Rental and repair records, and the customer details on them: 6 years after the end of the tax year they belong to, as Irish tax law requires. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted by Google.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, or withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing does not affect what was done before. Email info@motionwheel.ie and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website keeps in your browser. We use as few as we can, and we ask before using any that are not strictly necessary. Fonts and scripts are served from our own server, so visiting the site does not contact Google or any other company until you allow it.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| mw.consent | Remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask on every page. | Strictly necessary — stored in your browser | 6 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics: tells one visit from another, without identifying you by name. | Analytics — only with your consent | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics: keeps the state of the current visit. | Analytics — only with your consent | 2 years |
The staff console at /admin uses a sign-in cookie for staff only; visitors never receive it.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not stop the website from working.
